MVB loses to Wabash 3-0

Errors plague Pomeroys as they fall in rematch with Wabash College

Box Score The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods men's volleyball team welcomed the Wabash College Little Giants to the Hamilton Arena for a second match of the regular season against the Little Giants. The Little Giants got revenge on the Pomeroys from a lose earlier in the season beating the Pomeroys 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-19).
Errors were a big reason for the Pomeroys lost as they finished with 20 attack errors and 19 service errors. The Little Giants finished with nine attack errors and nine service errors.
The Pomeroys and Little Giants went back and forth early in the first set before the Pomeroys would get out to an 18-12 lead. The Little Giants would slowly comeback, taking advantage of the Pomeroys' errors, and take the first set 25-22. The Little Giants took that momentum from the first set to win the final two sets.
Mark Zmojdzin and Connor Orrock tied for team lead in kills with 11 each. Ethan Martins led the team in assists with 19, followed by Orrock with eight assists. Zon Mendiola led the team in digs with nine. Yammiel Martinez led the team in total blocks with three.
Orrock had three of the team's six service aces. Martinez, Josh Stembridge and Andrej Lindner each had one ace.
The Pomeroys fall to 2-14 on the season and will return to conference play this weekend as they travel to Lourdes University to take on the Grey Wolves who are nationally ranked 10th in NAIA and currently tied for first in the WHAC. Friday's match is set to start at 7:00 pm and Saturday's match will start at 11:00 am.
