Box Score Saint Mary-of-the-Woods improved to 2-0 with a 97-93 men's college basketball victory at Great Lakes Christian on Saturday. 
Sophomore J.R. Lumsden poured in 30 points on 12 of 13 shooting from the field to go with eight rebounds, while junior guard Tarik Dixon added 22 points for SMWC. 
The Pomeroys trailed 49-44 at halftime. Great Lakes Christian led the first 4:44 of the second half until Dixon connected on a 3-pointer to tie it at 62. Dixon scored again at the 13:03 mark to put SMWC ahead 68-66.
The game went back and forth until SMWC took a 82-80 lead with 5:42 remaining on a dunk by Luke Brower. Dixon made it 84-80 with a layup. 
SMWC hit 9 for 10 at the free-throw line in the final three minutes to secure the win and hit 22 for 25 at the charity stripe overall. 
Aaron Collins, who had a game-high 11 assists, hit four free throws in the final minutes.
Elkin Ramirez and Brower were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Davin Miller had eight points and 10 rebounds off the bench. 
SMWC shot 56 percent from the field, but committed 21 turnovers.
