SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's soccer fell 5-0 to Clarke University on Tuesday morning at McMahon Field.
The Pomeroys (1-2-2) held Clarke scoreless through the opening 36 minutes before Pedro Agujetas broke the deadlock in the 37th minute. SMWC entered halftime trailing 1-0.
Clarke (3-0) pulled away with four second-half goals. Alfonso Gonzalez scored in the 60th minute, followed by Agujetas' second goal in the 67th. Joan Muncharaz and Evan Lock completed the scoring in the final 12 minutes.
SMWC placed all five of its shots on goal.
Pedro Chamorro led the Pomeroys with two attempts, while
Ethan Johnson,
Marc Valderrama and
Nikolas Kellner each recorded one.
Goalkeeper
Harry Jackson made five saves over the opening 78:54.
Charlie Downes played the final 11:06 and added one save.
Clarke finished with a 21-5 advantage in shots and an 11-5 edge in shots on goal.
The Pomeroys return to action Saturday, Sept. 5, when they visit Harris-Stowe State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Central in St. Louis.
