ELGIN, Ill. — Ethan Johnson converted a penalty kick early in the second half as Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College battled Judson University to a 1-1 draw Wednesday afternoon at Dawson Field.

SMWC broke through in the 52nd minute when Johnson scored from the penalty spot. The goal was his first of the season and gave the Pomeroys a 1-0 advantage.
Judson (0-0-1) answered in the 63rd minute. Anthony Cordova scored off an assist from Noah Rehm to level the match at 1-1.
The Eagles applied pressure throughout the second half, recording 17 shots, but the Pomeroys' goalkeeper made seven saves after halftime to preserve the draw. SMWC finished with six shots, placing five on goal, while Judson recorded 24 attempts with nine on target.
Both teams earned four corner kicks. SMWC committed five fouls compared with 16 by Judson.
The Pomeroys return to action Saturday, Aug. 29, when they visit William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
