GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Lauren Gill scored twice, but the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Georgetown College in its season opener Sunday.
The Pomeroys trailed 2-1 at halftime before Gill delivered her second goal in the 62nd minute, pulling SMWC even at 2-2.
Georgetown answered less than four minutes later when Morgan Imhoff scored off an assist from Faith Burnside in the 66th minute to restore the Tigers' lead.

Addison Emberton finished with five saves, including a stop against Libby West in the 89th minute to keep the Pomeroys within striking distance.
Georgetown held an 18-9 advantage in shots and put eight attempts on goal compared with three for SMWC. The Pomeroys earned six corner kicks, one more than the Tigers.
Burnside scored twice for Georgetown, while Gill accounted for both SMWC goals.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods fell to 0-1, while Georgetown improved to 1-1.
