TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's track & field standout
Jerahmia Smith has been named the River States Conference Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Smith opened the 2026 outdoor season with a dominant performance at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational, capturing first place in the shot put with a throw of 16.31 meters. The mark met the NAIA 'B' standard and secured his qualification for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in May.
The throw ranks among the top marks in program history and sits just shy of Smith's own school record, reinforcing his status as one of the top field athletes in the conference. The performance also marks his second consecutive outdoor nationals qualification and fourth straight national meet appearance between indoor and outdoor seasons.
In addition to his shot put victory, Smith also competed in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 40.20 meters.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College returns to action Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at the Fightin' Engineers Spring Classic in Terre Haute, Indiana.
