Pomeroys Sweep Maranatha Baptist Doubleheader, Improve to 20–4

WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's volleyball team earned a pair of convincing victories Thursday evening, sweeping a doubleheader at Maranatha Baptist University to improve to 20-4 overall on the season.

The Pomeroys took both matches in straight sets, controlling play throughout the day inside Maranatha Gymnasium.

Match 1 – SMWC 3, Maranatha Baptist 0
SMWC opened the day with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 victory.

The Pomeroys recorded 39 kills and held the Sabercats to just 16 while posting a .184 team hitting percentage.

Sutton Reed paced the Pomeroys with 12 kills, while Chris-Samuel Basson added seven and Lauvai Pine contributed five kills and two blocks at the net.

The offense ran smoothly through a balanced effort from Ethan Martins and Jacob Wisniewski, who combined for 25 assists. Wisniewski also added two service aces.
Defensively, Jenu Ngialah led SMWC with nine digs, while Basson added eight.

Match 2 – SMWC 3, Maranatha Baptist 0
The Pomeroys carried the momentum into the nightcap, earning another sweep 25-15, 25-17, 25-18.

SMWC was even more efficient offensively in the second match, finishing with 44 kills and a .326 hitting percentage.

Reed once again led the attack with 14 kills, while Marco Palomares added eight and Dom Smith contributed six kills while also recording 17 assists.

Jacob Wisniewski directed the offense with 21 assists, while also posting two aces and nine digs to lead the team defensively.

The Pomeroys also received strong contributions from Colton Boldt, who led SMWC with two blocks, as well as Emmanuel Rubio and Smith, who each added a block.
With the pair of victories, SMWC reached the 20-win mark, continuing one of the program's strongest seasons.

SMWC returns home Saturday for the River States Conference Game of the Week against Cumberland University (Tenn.).
