Pomeroys Sweep Greenville For 13th Win

GREENVILLE, Ill. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's volleyball team earned a decisive road sweep over Greenville on Saturday, winning 25-19, 25-22, 25-14 to improve to 13-1 overall this season.

The Pomeroys were efficient from start to finish, recording 39 kills on 78 total attacks with just 11 errors for a .359 hitting percentage. Greenville was limited to 29 kills and a .149 attack percentage in the three-set match.

Yammiel Martinez led the offensive attack with 11 kills on 14 swings, hitting an impressive .643 while adding four block assists and 14 total points. Christian Green followed with six kills on a .500 clip, while Joseph Szadorski added five kills, five block assists, and eight total points. Noah Boyett also turned in a strong performance with five kills on six swings (.833), along with one solo block and three block assists.

Ethan Martins directed the offense with 17 assists and contributed an ace, while E. Ricketts added 13 assists and a service ace to help keep the attack balanced. The Pomeroys totaled 34 assists as a team.

At the service line, SMWC registered six aces. Defensively, the Pomeroys recorded 21 digs and were dominant at the net with one solo block and 16 block assists for nine total team blocks. Greenville did not record a block in the match.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods pulled away late in the third set with a strong finishing run, capitalizing on net play and disciplined execution to secure the 25-14 victory and complete the sweep.

The Pomeroys return to action Wednesday, February 18 at 6 p.m. (ET) when they host Greenville inside the Knoerle Center for a rematch.
