Kokomo Holds Off Pomeroys

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. —Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball fell to IU Kokomo, 63–42, on Tuesday evening inside the Knoerle Center.

The Pomeroys trailed 15–8 after the opening quarter but responded with a strong second period, outscoring IU Kokomo 15–13 to cut the deficit to five points at halftime. SMWC struggled to find offensive rhythm coming out of the break, however, as the Cougars used a 20–6 third quarter to create separation heading into the final 10 minutes.

Talyssa Moody led Saint Mary-of-the-Woods with a game-high 14 points, connecting on four three-pointers while playing all 40 minutes. Nadiya Figures added 13 points off the bench, while Samara Douglas contributed seven points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

The Pomeroys shot 32.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three-point range, but were limited to just four free throws on the afternoon. SMWC was outrebounded 43–39 and committed 22 turnovers, leading to 20 points off turnovers for IU Kokomo.

IU Kokomo was led by Lexi DiOrio's 15 points and Moriah Crawford's double-double effort of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods will be back in action on Saturday, February 14, when the Pomeroys travel to Shawnee State for a 1 p.m. (ET) tip-off.
