ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College wrapped up a successful weekend at The Showdown in the Woods on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of Clarke University (Iowa), winning by set scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-21 inside the Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center.

The Pomeroys improved to 7-1 on the season and closed the home tournament by winning five of six matches over the two-day event. SMWC held Clarke (3-1) to a .079 hitting percentage, forcing 26 attack errors while controlling the match from the opening serve.

Daniel Musa and Christian Green led the balanced SMWC attack with seven kills apiece, while Tyler Duranceau added six kills and two service aces. The Pomeroys distributed the ball effectively throughout the match, as Ethan Ricketts tallied 11 assists and Ethan Martins contributed nine assists.

Defensively, SMWC dominated at the net with 15 total blocks. Yammiel Martinez posted a match-high four blocks, Lauvai Pine added three, and Noah Boyett recorded two blocks in the victory. In the back row, Trevin Matsuba paced the Pomeroys with eight digs, followed by Duranceau with seven.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods never allowed Clarke to gain sustained momentum, limiting the Pride to no more than 21 points in any set while closing each frame with composure to complete the straight-set win.
