SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's volleyball team stayed perfect on the season with a 3–1 victory over Kentucky State University on Friday morning inside the Knoerle Center.
SMWC (3–0) earned set wins of 25–13, 25–23 and 25–18, overcoming a third-set setback (19–25) to close out the match in four.
Bentley Meyer led the Pomeroys with 12 kills and added nine digs and five blocks in a strong all-around performance.
Francesco Tedeschi finished with nine kills and two aces, while
Charlie Harr chipped in eight kills and two blocks.
Setter
Dom Smith directed the offense with 32 assists and added two service aces, helping SMWC post a .245 team hitting percentage (43 kills, 18 errors on 102 total attempts). The Pomeroys were especially efficient in the fourth set, hitting .400 behind 16 kills and just four errors.
At the net, SMWC totaled nine blocks, led by Meyer's five and
Colton Boldt's three. Defensively, Meyer recorded a team-high nine digs, with
Jashawn Sykes adding six.
Kentucky State (0–4) was paced by Charles Ababio with 11 kills and Jamir Patterson with nine. Jamal Gray added 10 digs and three aces for the Thorobreds.
SMWC controlled the match statistically, posting advantages in kills (43–31), assists (40–25), digs (38–32), and total points.
