Talyssa Moody turned in a standout performance on the road, pouring in
20 points to lead
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in a
70–55 loss at IU Columbus in River States Conference action.
Moody finished
7-of-13 shooting from the field and connected on
six three-pointers, accounting for more than a third of SMWC's scoring output while logging 35 minutes. Her perimeter shooting sparked a strong opening quarter, as Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College built an early lead behind efficient offensive execution.
Abigail Parker added
13 points and
eight rebounds, while
Ariel Grace contributed
10 points,
nine rebounds, and
four assists. SMWC shot
42.6 percent from the field and
40.0 percent from three-point range, but struggled at the free-throw line, converting
7-of-21 attempts.
IU Columbus pulled away in the second half, outscoring Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College 40–28 after halftime. Abby Fleetwood led the hosts with 27 points and 15 rebounds, helping IU Columbus control the paint and second-chance opportunities down the stretch.
SMWC will look to bounce back as conference play continues on the road, traveling to IU Southeast on
Tuesday, January 6, with tipoff scheduled for
6 p.m. (ET).
