NEW ALBANY, Ind. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team dropped an 83–36 decision to IU Southeast on Tuesday night in River States Conference action at the IUS Gymnasium.
The host Grenadiers jumped out to an early lead, holding SMWC to 10 points in the opening quarter before extending the margin at halftime. IU Southeast continued to control the pace in the second half, outscoring the Pomeroys 44–22 after the break.
Abigail Parker led SMWC with 11 points, knocking down two three-pointers and adding three rebounds in 32 minutes.
Elayni Stone and
Samara Douglas each finished with eight points, while Douglas pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
Haley Polston and
Confidence Nwachukwu each contributed two points off the bench.
SMWC finished the night with 41 rebounds but struggled to find a rhythm offensively, shooting 22.9 percent from the field.
IU Southeast was led by Grace Stapleton's game-high 22 points, while Jesse Ledgerwood added 19. The Grenadiers shot 44.0 percent from the field and forced 29 SMWC turnovers, converting them into 29 points.
The Pomeroys will return home on Saturday, January 10, when they host their next River States Conference matchup at 1 p.m. (ET).
