SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. —
Haley Polston scored a team-high 20 points for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, but Kentucky Christian University pulled away in the second half to earn an 83–70 win Friday afternoon inside Knoerle Center.
Polston led the Pomeroys with 20 points, connecting on 6-of-10 from three-point range while adding nine rebounds.
Samara Douglas and
Elayni Stone each finished with 14 points, while
Talyssa Moody added 13 points and six assists.
Kentucky Christian was powered by Mikyra Caudill's game-high 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Bell Sparks added 23 points, and Kelsee Simpson recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Pomeroys kept pace early, trailing 39–32 at halftime after strong second-quarter shooting, highlighted by a 5-of-6 performance from beyond the arc. SMWC continued to battle in the third quarter, but Kentucky Christian used a balanced scoring attack and strong interior presence to extend the lead to double digits down the stretch.
SMWC shot 39.0 percent from the field and knocked down 13 three-pointers, while Kentucky Christian converted 54.0 percent of its shots and outscored SMWC 60–16 in points in the paint.
