AUSTIN, Texas – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team picked up its 13th victory of the season Friday afternoon, sweeping Huston-Tillotson University (25-13, 25-15, 25-9) at Branch Gym.
The Pomeroys (13-1) controlled the match from the opening serve, hitting .439 as a team while limiting the Rams (1-5) to a .061 percentage. The day carried extra meaning for
Aden Britt, who delivered a standout performance in her homecoming to Texas. Britt tallied 18 assists and 7 service aces, igniting SMWC's attack in front of a strong crowd.
Grace Geisler paced the offense with 9 kills, while
Lisanel Rodriguez and
Karla Melendez added 6 apiece.
Selena Sosa anchored the defense with 10 digs, and
Leishmarie Virella chipped in 6.
The Pomeroys finished with decisive edges in kills (44–19), assists (40–15), digs (44–27), and service aces (13–0).
SMWC will continue its Texas road trip with two matches on Saturday, September 6. The Pomeroys face Paul Quinn College at 9 a.m. (CT) before squaring off against Howard Payne University at 2 p.m. (CT).
