SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball defended its home court Friday with a 3–1 victory over IU-Columbus in River States Conference play at the Knoerle Center. The Pomeroys took the match 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16 to improve to 19-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Karla Melendez led SMWC with 15 kills and 13 digs, while
Masa Pesic added 14 kills on a .308 hitting percentage and delivered seven aces.
Felicia Omosebi was efficient at the net with 13 kills on a team-best .400 percentage and chipped in two blocks. Setter

Leishmarie Virella anchored the defense with a match-high 26 digs.
The Pomeroys outpaced IU-Columbus in kills (57-52) and service aces (13-4) while hitting .215 as a team. SMWC opened strong with back-to-back set wins before the Crimson Pride rallied in the third set. The Pomeroys responded with a dominant fourth set, holding IUC to a .000 attack percentage.
IU-Columbus (11-5, 2-2 RSC) was paced by Cora Baker, who finished with 21 kills on a .333 hitting percentage. Ruthie Bingham added 15 kills, while Bailey Stevens recorded 43 assists. Defensively, Alyvia Luce collected 18 digs.
The victory improves SMWC's home record to 8-1 this season.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods returns to action Saturday, Sept. 27, hosting IU-Southeast at 1 p.m. at the Knoerle Center.
