SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team bounced back in dominant fashion Tuesday afternoon, sweeping visiting University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy (25-11, 25-9, 25-16) inside the Knoerle Center.
With the win, the Pomeroys improved to 18-2 on the season and showed their depth across the floor, holding UHSP to a -.032 hitting percentage while hitting .419 as a team.
Kia Knox-Dawkins paced the attack with eight kills on just 13 swings, while
Holly Linville added seven kills.
Sofia Soto chipped in five kills and led the defensive front at the net with five blocks. Setter
Ariana Cruz-Gonzalez orchestrated the offense with 18 assists and three service aces, while also adding seven digs.
On the defensive end,
Selena Sosa anchored the back row with a match-high 16 digs. The Pomeroys also produced 10 service aces as a team, keeping the Eutectics on their heels throughout the contest.
UHSP (2-13) was led by Sumanpreet Kaur's eight kills and Jenna Brinson's 14 assists.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods now turns its attention back to River States Conference play. The Pomeroys will host IU-Columbus on Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. (ET) inside the Knoerle Center.
