WILBERFORCE, Ohio — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team rolled to its fifth win of the season on Tuesday evening, defeating Wilberforce University in straight sets (25-21, 25-9, 25-9) at Gaston Lewis Arena.
The Pomeroys (5-1) posted a .338 hitting percentage in the victory, led by
Lisanel Rodriguez, who recorded 15 kills and added four digs.
Natalie Knigga and
Megan Chesser chipped in four kills apiece, while
Ryan Canter tallied a team-high 14 assists.
Alexa Stiff led the service line with four aces, and
Selena Sosa anchored the defense with nine digs.
SMWC controlled the match from the start, rallying from a tight first set to dominate the final two frames, outscoring the Bulldogs 50-18 across the second and third sets.
The Pomeroys now turn their attention to hosting the
Showdown in the Woods – Presented by the Terre Haute Convention & Visitors Bureau this weekend at Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center. The two-day event will feature 16 matches with SMWC playing five times across Friday and Saturday.
