SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College opened the 2025 Showdown in the Woods – presented by the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau – with a convincing 3-0 sweep over Boyce College on Friday morning inside the Jeanne Knoerle Center. The Pomeroys (7-1) won by set scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-19.
SMWC controlled the pace from the start, hitting .297 in the opening frame and .423 in the second. The Pomeroys finished with 41 kills on a .288 attack percentage compared to 19 kills and a -.056 percentage for Boyce (0-3).
Lisanel Rodriguez and
Holly Linville each tallied a team-high eight kills, while
Masa Pesic added six.
Aden Britt dished out 13 assists and
Ariana Cruz-Gonzalez added 12 to fuel the offense. Defensively,
Selena Sosa recorded a match-best 12 digs, and
Alaina Norris led the net front with four blocks.
Boyce was led by Avery Green's six kills and 12 digs.
The Showdown in the Woods continues Friday night as SMWC returns to the court to face Culver-Stockton (Mo.) at 8 p.m. (ET).
