Four Pomeroys Earn All-River States Conference Honors

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – Four Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's volleyball players were named to the 2024 All-River States Conference Teams, the league announced this afternoon (April 16). The honors come as the Pomeroys prepare for the RSC Semifinals at Georgetown College (Ky.) on Friday, April 18 at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Second Team All-RSC selections included Kristofers Klavins and Yammiel Martinez, while Christian Green and freshman Joseph Szadorski earned spots on the Third Team.

The Pomeroys boast a school record 26-9 ledger entering the semifinal round, after earning the program's first-ever postseason victory on Tuesday night — a 3-1 victory at Rio Grande (Ohio).

Kristofers Klavins (Second Team) has been a key playmaker for SMWC, leading the team with 639 assists (9.40 assists/set). He also tallied 46 kills, a .327 attack percentage, and added 17 service aces and 90.0 total points across 68 sets.

Yammiel Martinez (Second Team) anchored the defense while also contributing significantly on offense. He posted 152 kills (1.83/set) with an impressive .445 hitting percentage and added 31 errors on 272 attempts. Martinez also contributed 229.0 points, five service aces, and led the team in blocking with 73 total blocks (solo and assisted combined).

Christian Green (Third Team) was a force at the net, registering 185 kills (2.23/set) with a solid .269 hitting percentage. He contributed 228.0 total points and tallied 69 errors on 432 attempts in 83 sets played.

Joseph Szadorski (Third Team) made an immediate impact in his freshman campaign, leading SMWC in points with 280.0 (3.37/set) and kills with 216 (2.60/set). He added 26 service aces and held a .243 attack percentage over 83 sets.

The All-RSC awards spotlight standout performers across the conference, which includes competitive programs such as Georgetown, Campbellsville, Cumberland, and Rio Grande.
