Historic Season Comes To A Close For SMWC Men's Volleyball In RSC Semifinals

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) men's volleyball team saw its record-setting season come to a close Friday evening in the River States Conference (RSC) Tournament semifinals, falling in straight sets to Georgetown College (Ky.), 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-16) at Great Crossing High School.

The loss caps a historic 26-10 season for the Pomeroys — the program's winningest campaign to date — which also included their first-ever postseason victory earlier in the tournament.

Despite the result, SMWC showed flashes of grit throughout the match. Georgetown (22-4), the tournament's No. 1 seed, displayed elite efficiency, hitting .373 as a team and outpacing the Pomeroys 47-28 in kills.

Pomeroy Standouts: The Pomeroys hit .133 as a team but the Georgetown offense was led by Kristjan Unt (12 kills) and Finn Heinemann (38 assists, 5 aces, 12 digs).
