WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) women's golf team turned in a strong showing at The Kampen-Cosler Invitational on Monday, finishing fourth in a one-day, 36-hole event held at the par-72, 5,959-yard Kampen-Cosler Course in West Lafayette, Ind. The tournament was hosted by Taylor University.
The Pomeroys carded team rounds of 341 and 373 for a total of 714 (+138), placing them fourth in an eight-team field. Taylor University captured the team title with a 677, followed by Bethel (696) and Huntington (710).
Sophomore
Renae Jaeger led the charge for SMWC, firing rounds of 81 and 84 to finish at 165 (+21), tying for second place individually—just one shot behind tournament medalist Margarita Garrido of Taylor (164, +20).
Also contributing to the Pomeroys' performance was
Brooklee Bussing, who posted scores of 84 and 92 for a 176 (+32), finishing 12th overall.
Macie Shirk recorded rounds of 87 and 99 (186, +42), tying for 18th, while
Kristin Pagach followed closely with an 89-98 (187, +43), tying for 21st.
The Pomeroys will return to competition at the
Forest Hills Invitational, beginning Friday, April 18, in Richmond, Ind.
