SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team improved to 27-2 overall and 11-1 in River States Conference play with a straight-set win over Brescia (Ky.) (7-18, 2-10) inside the Knoerle Center on Friday night.
The Pomeroys controlled the match with a sharp serving attack, recording
16 service aces as a team. Junior outside hitter
Karla Melendez led all players with
five aces, adding 11 kills, 14 digs and 17.0 total points. SMWC's serving pressure forced the Bearcats into defensive shifts that the Pomeroys capitalized on throughout the contest.
Freshman outside hitter
Masa Pesic turned in a standout performance at the net, finishing with 12 kills on .524 hitting, while setter
Aden Britt contributed 22 assists and three points. Defensively, SMWC out-dug Brescia 55–51 and limited the visitors to a .041 hitting percentage.
