SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women's volleyball team made it a perfect sweep of the week with a 3-0 win over visiting IU-Columbus on Friday evening (Nov. 1) inside Knoerle Center.
The Pomeroys improved to 30-5, 9-5 RSC while IU-Columbus dropped to 9-12, 5-9 RSC. SMWC became just the second team in the nation to win at least 30 games this season in all of NAIA.
Karla Melendez paced the team with 11 kills while
Alex Hernandez recorded eight kills.
Alexis Keoho was key throughout the match with 21 set assists plus a kill and eight digs.
Leishmarie Virella recorded three service aces in the win to give her 60 for the season which is a new single-season program record.
Isabel Hansen was solid at the net as she paced the team with four total blocks.
Jocelyn Chavez -- the reigning RSC Defensive Player of the Week posted 10 digs in the victory.
SMWC will return to action on Friday, November 8 when they host IU-Kokomo at 7 pm (ET) inside Knoerle Center. First serve is set for 7:00 pm (ET) and it will be Senior Night for the Pomeroys.
