Day One Success; Pomeroys Defeat the Crusaders

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The SMWC women's volleyball team defeated Capital University in four sets to snap a three-game losing streak. The Pomeroys opened up the Case Western Reserve University Invitational 1-0 before they battle home team favorite Case Western Reserve University and John Carroll University tomorrow morning.
What you need to know:
The Woods won in four sets (25-18, 25-20, 15-25, 25-19)
SMWC totaled 46 kills on 138 attacks with a .174 hitting %
McKenzi Kumpf and Gabriella Slagle led the team in kills with 13 and 11
Mary Alvanos finished with a season-high 31 assists
Pamela Dorman finished with 25 digs

By the Numbers:
SMWC earned its second victory of the season over a 0-4 Capital University. 

What's Next?
Day two of the Case Western Reserve Invitational is scheduled for tomorrow. The Woods will match up against Case Western Reserve University and John Carroll University. The CWRI is located in Cleveland, Ohio. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. tomorrow against CWRU.
