Box Score 2 HANOVER, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) volleyball team dropped two matches on Saturday at Hanover. The Pomeroys fell in their first match of the day against Denison, 3-0 (28-30, 16-25, 12-25). SMWC then dropped its match against Hanover later in the day, 3-0 (23-25, 9-25, 15-25).
Junior Jessica Coombs led the Pomeroys in kills against Denison with nine, while freshman Mary Alvanos recorded 20 assists. Alvanos also recorded two service aces against Denison. Sophomore Madeline Howes led the team in digs with 18, while Coombs added 15 digs. Junior Brylie Riddell led SMWC in kills against Hanover with 10, while Alvanos recorded 13 assists and freshman McKenzi Kumpf recorded 10 assists.
The Pomeroys are now 4-3 on the year and will be back in action this weekend when they face Cincinnati Clermont and Oakland City on Saturday. Saturday's tri-match will be part of SMWC's homecoming festivities on September 19.
