Aaron Ballenger

Assistant Women's Basketball Coach | June 2001 - Present

Aaron Ballenger was hired as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Friday, on June 1, 2001.

As Assistant Coach for the women's basketball program. He helped guide the Pomeroys to an 18-win season in 2001-02 and a 16-win season in 2009-10. He has been on the bench for five trips to the USCAA National Tournament. 

Ballenger served as the Assistant Women's Cross Country Coach from 2009-2017, while he was named interim head coach in 2015. For the WXC team, he coached two USCAA National Championship teams (2009, 2010), 25 USCAA National All-Academic Team Members, and 12 USCAA All-Americans.

In 2016, he served as the men's cross country assistant coach in the program's inaugural season. He helped lead the MXC team to a fourth-place finish at USCAA National Championships.


Professional Experience

Prior to his time at SMWC, Ballenger made three stops as an assistant coach at the high school level. He was the Boy’s Assistant Basketball Coach at Daleville High School from 1997-98. He then was the Boy’s Assistant Basketball Coach at Cowan High School in 1998-99. Lastly, he was the Girl’s Assistant Basketball Coach at Wapahani High School from 1999-00. During his time at Wapahani, the girls won the Mid-Eastern Conference title. 

The Daleville, Ind., native is a graduate of Ball State University and has worked with basketball camps at Ball State University, Indiana State University, Purdue University, University of Notre Dame, and Duke University. He is also an active member of the WBCA.


Personal

Aaron resides in Terre Haute, Indiana, with his girlfriend and his dog Ivey Anne.Â
