Professional Experience
Prior to coming to SMWC, Coach Hunter most recently served as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. While there he led the team to being named OCCAC Conference Champions, Region XII Champions – National Tournament Qualifier, and a 20 Win Season. He coached and developed OCCAC POY Tyreke Johnson and reached #2 in National Poll, the highest mark for the program.
Before that he was the Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio from 2017-19 where the team showed a five game improvement in his first season on staff, he increased the team GPA every semester as academic coordinator, signed Mid-South Freshman/Defensive Player of the year EJ Onu, and coached All Mid-South Forward and current NBA pro Fred Moore.
While leading as the Top Men's Basketball Assistant Coach at Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio from 2015-2017 he led the first Urbana team to reach post-season play, coached All-MEC forward Jahmere Howze, and spear-headed $10,000 in fundraising over 2-year span.
Coach Hunter also served as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Goshen College from 2013-2015 and Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Heidelburg University in Tiffin, Ohio from 2009-2013.
