James Davis enters his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men’s basketball program in 2026-27, continuing to play a key role in the development of the Pomeroys on and off the court.
Davis has been instrumental in player development, scouting, and game preparation during his time at SMWC, helping guide the program through multiple competitive seasons. He has worked closely with the guard group, contributing to the growth of perimeter play and overall offensive execution.
During the 2025-26 season, Davis helped the Pomeroys reach the River States Conference Tournament while contributing to the development of three All-River States Conference Second Team selections in Taray Howell, Mike Ajukwa, and Ellis Todd. He also assisted in mentoring key contributors such as DeYon Bell and Quamar Hobbs, both of whom earned weekly conference honors.
Known for his strong relationships with student-athletes and attention to detail, Davis plays an integral role in fostering the program’s culture of toughness, accountability, and connectedness.
