TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's soccer dropped a 3-1 decision Tuesday night at cross-town rival Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The loss moves the Pomeroys to 2-7 on the season.
The Fightin' Engineers struck first in the 23rd minute when Aidan Kriek found the back of the net off assists from Chase Kedzior and Oliver Fila. Rose-Hulman extended its lead to 2-0 early in the second half as Evan Lipsky converted in the 58th minute.
SMWC responded quickly, as Jaime Gayol scored in the 61st minute on an assist from
Luca Janzen, cutting the deficit in half. Despite generating 12 shots and six on frame in the second half, the Pomeroys could not pull even. Rose-Hulman sealed the win in the 89th minute when Kedzior added an insurance goal.

Harry Jackson recorded eight saves in the effort for SMWC, while five different Pomeroys registered shots on goal.
The Pomeroys will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 25, with a road match at Midway (Ky.). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (ET).
