SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer fell to undefeated Taylor University on Wednesday afternoon at the SMWC Soccer Complex, dropping an 8-0 decision in non-conference play.

The Trojans (6-0-0) controlled the match from the start, striking for four goals in each half. Leah McQuade opened the scoring in the 17th minute, finishing off a feed from Eliza Luttrell. McQuade added her second tally just four minutes later, and Luttrell found the net herself in the 24th minute to push the advantage to 3-0. Ava Makedos capped the first-half scoring in the 36th minute off an assist from Leilani Bisera.

Taylor continued to apply pressure after the break. Luttrell recorded her second goal less than a minute into the second half, followed by strikes from Libby Thomas, Lydia Bailey and Mairin Carpenter to close out the scoring. Luttrell finished with two goals and two assists, while McQuade also tallied a pair of goals.

The Trojans peppered the net with 37 total shots, including 23 on goal. SMWC goalkeeper Eerika Erjansalo tallied eight saves in the first 59 minutes of action, while Blair Pope added seven stops in relief.

Ella Cox and Tarni Nicol registered the lone shot attempts for the Pomeroys (0-5-1), who continue to search for their first win of the season.
