Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Earns NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Award for Fourth Time in Four Years

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Athletic Department has once again been recognized as a Champions of Character Five-Star Institution by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). This marks the fourth time in four years of NAIA competition that the Pomeroys have earned the prestigious distinction.

The NAIA Champions of Character program honors institutions that exemplify the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership through their athletics and student-athlete development efforts.

SMWC's consistent recognition highlights the department's deep commitment to excellence both on and off the playing field.

"Part of our goals within the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College athletic department is to earn the NAIA Champions of Character Gold designation," said Kevin Lanke, Associate Vice President for Athletics. "This award showcases our commitment to the entire student-athlete experience. We hope that our students can be active members of the campus and Wabash Valley community, successful academically, and make an impact in their daily lives. This award helps validate the everyday goals that we set for our student-athletes."

Each year, the NAIA evaluates institutions based on character training, competition conduct, academic focus, and community service. SMWC's continued success in these categories reflects a holistic approach to student-athlete growth and leadership.
