SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's volleyball team earned a pair of victories over visiting Greenville (Ill.) inside the Knoerle Center on Tuesday night (Feb. 11). The Pomeroys improved to 11-1 on the season, with set scores of 25-18, 25-13, 23-25, and 25-22 in the opener and set scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-18 in the nightcap.
SMWC returns to action on Saturday, February 15 when they travel to Milligan (Tenn.) for a doubleheader. The matches are set for 11 am (ET) and 1 pm (ET).
Game One Recap:

SMWC's
Tyler Duranceau led the way with 10 kills and 12 digs, while
Ryan Banister added 9 kills and
Andrej Lindner served up 4 aces. Duranceau and Lindner also contributed defensively with 10 and 12 digs, respectively.
Ethan Martins posted 16 assists, and
Michael Olak added 11.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods dominated early, winning the first two sets in convincing fashion. However, Greenville rallied in the third set, securing a 25-23 win. The Pomeroys regained control in the fourth set, sealing the match with a 25-22 victory.

The set opened with an early back-and-forth, with Greenville's Tyrone Ealy and SMWC's John Heater trading errors. A key kill from SMWC's
Andrej Lindner gave the Pomeroys a 4-2 lead, but Greenville responded with strong offensive plays by Tyrone Ealy and John Gannucci, pulling even at 6-6.
As the set progressed, SMWC found its rhythm.
Tyler Duranceau's consecutive kills from Michael Martins helped the Pomeroys gain a 10-7 advantage. Greenville continued to stay in the game, with Gannucci's and Caleb Day's kills keeping the set tight. A key service ace from
Noah Boyett and a block error by Greenville helped the Pomeroys take a 16-13 lead.
However, the Panthers would not go down quietly. A string of attack errors and strong defensive blocks from Izaiah Fenstermaker and
Lauvai Pine put SMWC in control. Boyett, with a kill from Martins, pushed the lead to 21-18, and although Greenville fought back with a kill from Gannucci, it wasn't enough.
SMWC finally closed out the set with a final 25-22 win, fueled by Duranceau's crucial kills down the stretch.
Game Two Recap:
SMWC made quick work of Greenville (Ill.) in the second game of their doubleheader on Saturday, earning a 3-0 win (25-12, 25-21, 25-18) at the Knoerle Center.
The Pomeroys (11-1) were firing on all cylinders, boasting an impressive .242 hitting percentage in the match, compared to Greenville's .060. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College led in kills (38-21) and service aces (11-3), with standout performances from several players.
Caden Harretos led the Pomeroys offensively with seven kills, while
Tyler Duranceau contributed five kills and three aces. The trio of
Michael Olak (eight assists),
Jacob Wisniewski (seven assists), and
Ethan Martins (seven assists) helped set up the offense throughout the match.
Sebastian Reid led the Pomeroys with 10 digs, and
Andrej Lindner added eight digs to anchor the defense.
Greenville (1-10) was led by Izaiah Fenstermaker, who had 11 kills and Kevin McGhee, Jr., who tallied 17 assists and two aces. The Panthers struggled with their offensive efficiency, posting just a .000 hitting percentage in the first set and never finding their rhythm.
The Pomeroys dominated the opening set 25-12, with a strong 13 kills on 27 attempts. The Panthers made a push in set two, but a strong finish from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods sealed the 25-21 win. The third set saw the Pomeroys close out the match 25-18, showing resilience in a set where Greenville's offense found a brief spark.
