Hazzard's Heroics Propel Pomeroys To Homecoming Victory Over Midway (Ky.)

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A fourth-quarter surge lifted the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College sprint football team to a 27–20 Homecoming victory over Midway (Ky.) on Saturday at Jay Barrett Field. The Pomeroys (4-0) remain unbeaten after scoring the game's final 14 points to erase a late deficit.

Game Recap
Midway struck first when quarterback Christian Carte powered in from one yard out midway through the first quarter. SMWC answered in the second as quarterback Jeremiah Tosky capped a short drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to tie it at 7–7.

The Eagles regained control with two field goals from Kadin Fitch (25, 40 yards) before halftime, giving Midway a 13–7 lead at the break.

Early in the third quarter, Tosky connected with Patrick Perea on a 26-yard scoring strike, but Carte responded minutes later by finding Ayden Bauwens for a 75-yard touchdown to push Midway ahead, 20–13.

The Pomeroys saved their best for last. Tosky engineered an eight-play drive, finishing with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Corbyn Clevelan to tie the game at 20–20 with 7:35 left. Just four minutes later, running back Derron Hazzard broke free for a 58-yard touchdown run, sealing the come-from-behind victory.
