SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball closes the regular season with a trip to Oakland City University on Saturday afternoon.  The game time is 2 pm SMWC time, or 1 pm Central Time at the site of the game.  Saint Mary-of-the-Woods has secured a first round bye in next week's River States Conference Tournament and will open quarterfinal round play on Wednesday Feb. 28.  The top four seeds in the RSC Tournament will host Wednesday contests, and the matchups and game times will be released very late Saturday night by the conference.

SMWC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NOTES:
* SMWC is enjoying its best season as an NAIA member in its third year in the River States Conference.  SMWC stands 18-9 this year and is 13-4 in RSC play under head coach Terry Bowe.  The previous two seasons of River States Conference basketball ended at 16-11 (8-10 RSC) in 2022-23 and 14-14 (5-12 in RSC)  in 2021-22.
* SMWC enters today's game on a 5-game winning streak with five straight wins over teams in the RSC Western Division.
* Brooklynn Jones leads three players in double figures with a 14.0 points per game average.  Jones adds 6.1 rebounds per game and ranks 2nd on the team with 73 assists.
* Madison Fueger adds 13.7 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game.  Fueger also ranks No. 2 on the team in steals (52) and blocks (19).
* Irye Gomez is the team's 3rd double-figure average scorer with 12.7 points per game and a team-high 57 three-point field goals.  Gomez also leads the team with 58 steals.
* Destiny Thomas ranks third on the team in assists (66) and steals (49).
