| By:
Box Score The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods men's soccer team earned a draw Saturday at Trinity Christian thanks to a second-half goal by Abraham Abdoul Kadri
The debut match for new co-head coaches Brady Cole and Ron Kiernicki was a solid result and an evenly-matched 90 minutes. SMWC took nine shots to 10 for Trinity Christian. The Pomeroys took four corner kicks to three for the Trolls.
Trinity Christian converted in the 35th minute following a save by Pomeroys' keeper Harry Jackson.
The Pomeroys got their equalizer after halftime.
After a discussion with Cole and Kiernicki on the sideline, senior Yazen Bakrebah executed an attack plan to perfection to set up the goal for Abdoul Kadri.
"Within two minutes, Yaz assisted Abraham with a beautiful run to the touch line, followed by a cross to the six-yard box which gifted Abraham's opportunity," Cole said.
Overall, SMWC was pleased with the outcome.
"They played extremely well," Kiernicki said, "and they are figuring out their team personality."
SMWC returns to action Tuesday at Indiana Wesleyan.
