Pomeroys extend winning streak to nine

Lanna Martinez picked up her third win in two days and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods senior Camryn Scott reached the 40-stolen base mark in doubleheader sweep against Miami-Hamilton on Saturday. The Pomeroys celebrated Military Appreciation Day with seven veterans throwing out a ceremonial first pitch, winning by scores of 9-1 and 17-1.
Jasmine Kinzer (4-0) picked up the win in the opener, tossing four innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts, and Lanna Martinez (10-4) earned the win in the second game to extend the team's winning streak to nine games.
Scott had two of the team's 14 stolen bases. The Pomeroys rank second in the NAIA in stolen bases with 140. Scott had a three-run double in the opener as well.
Abbi Henderson and Tori Lee each had three hits, with two of Lee's being doubles. Lee added three stolen bases.
The Pomeroys scored 14 runs in the first two innings of the second game as Miami-Hamilton pitchers struggled to find the strike zone.
Hailey Boardman and Maddy Helmkamp led the offense with three hits apiece.
