Bethel (8-12, 4-10) swept Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference men's volleyball match Friday night by scores of 25-17, 25-18, 25-19.
Julian Green led the Pomeroys (2-21, 0-13 WHAC) with six kills.
Zon Mendiola had 10 digs and
Connor Orrock a team-best 10 assists. SMWC's leading attacke on the season, freshman
Mark Zmojdzin, left the match after taking a hit to the head in the first set.
Bethel went on a 12-5 run in the opening set after the teams played to a 7-7 tie.
Marcos Henrike, a 6-foot-7 hitter, had three of his match-high 15 kills during that span.
In the second set, the Pomeroys took a 10-9 lead on an attack by
Anioma Njokanma. Henrike knocked in three kills as the Pilots rallied for a 14-8 lead. The Pilots cruised to the 25-18 set win.
In the third set, 6-foot-7 Mustafa Yildiz keyed the Pilots to a fast start and SMWC found itself down 16-6 before Bethel went on to a 25-19 win to clinch the match.
