SMWC's memorable 2023 women's volleyball season came to a close Tuesday inside Hamilton Arena in the quarterfinals of the River States Conference Volleyball Championship.
Senior
Hannah Zuege posted 24 kills, 12 digs and four blocks in her final college match as Rio Grande rallied from behind for the reverse sweep. SMWC won the first two sets 25-22 before the Red Storm suddenly reversed the course of the match and took the final three sets 25-14, 25-19,15-5.Â
The Pomeroys posted a .286 hitting percentage in the second set but Rio Grande picked up its defense in the third and fourth sets. SMWC also combined for 17 errors in the two sets.
Freshman
Masa Pesic had seven kills.
Alexis Keoho had 22 assists and
Lillian Breaux added 14.Â
Defensively,
Jocelyn Chavez had 24 digs.Â
The Pomeroys finished the season with 28 victories for a new school record, posting a 14-5 record in the RSC.
