SMWC put all five starters in double figures and led by as many as 35 points in the second half, cruising to a 91-74 victory at Goshen College on Saturday.
Chaz Birchfield posted a season-high scoring output for the second straight game, scoring 19 points to go with four assists and four steals.
Cobie Barnes just missed a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds, and
Shon Tupuola recorded a double-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Greg Johnson scored a season-high 13 against his former team. Johnson hit two first-half 3-pointers, leading the SMWC offense in the early minutes of the game.
After Goshen clawed back to even the score at 22-22, SMWC found its groove late in the first half, going on a 16-2 run to go into halfitme with a 46-29 lead. SMWC shot 55 percent in the first half.
Greg Jenkins, who had 11 points and four steals, had two buckets during the key run.
The Pomeroys did some damage on the offensive glass throughout with 20 offensive rebounds, and that aggressiveness was key during the run to take control of the game. Barnes and Tupuola had rebound baskets during that stretch.
Barnes and Jenkins each hit 3-pointers during the first few minutes of the second half as SMWC's lead ballooned to 60-31 by the 16:17 mark of the second half.
The Pomeroys made 19 assists and nine turnovers, while the SMWC defense came up with 12 steals.
