The SMWC women's volleyball team won its 20th match of the season in dominant fashion, defeating IU Southeast by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.
The Pomeroys posted a .411 hitting percentage for the match, including a .471 mark in the final set to quickly end any hope for a rally by the Grenadiers, who had defeated SMWC in five sets earlier this season in New Albany.
Senior
Morgan Krause had five of her 11 kills in the opening set and the middle hitter added two blocks. Fellow middle
Alex Hernandez added nine kills. Krause had a .714 hitting percentage and Hernandez posted a .643 mark.
"What was really fun was we had multiple players putting up big numbers. We've really worked hard this last week or so connecting our setters and hitters, especially our middles. It was fun to see both of them fully connecting," coach
Ashley Harris said.
The Pomeroys (20-3, 8-2 RSC), who are tied for the third best record in the conference, also got 18 kills from senior
Hannah Zuege.
Lillian Breaux led the way with 28 assists, while
Ariana Cruz added 16.
Jocelyn Chavez (16 digs) and Alondra Garcia (12 digs) led SMWC's stellar play in the back row.
