Box Score The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods women's basketball team took their 3-0 record on the road to Miami University (Hamilton) to face the Harriers (2-3) Tuesday night, The Pomeroys would have a halftime lead at 30-18 after only allowing six points in the second quarter and stay in control in the second half, winning 76-67.
The Pomeroys were led by Brooklyn Jones with 14 points followed by Abby Worley, Samara Douglas, Madison White all finished with 13 points. Avalee Jeffers led the team with nine rebounds. Jones and White both came off the bench in tonight's game. Sydney Ingram also scored eight big points for the Pomeroys, including two big threes. Jeffers had five steals on the night that were huge for the Pomeroys in sealing the victory.
Douglas was forced to leave the game in the third quarter with a possible knee injury, but the Pomeroys bench did a great job of stepping up and filling for her. "That's why we carry 15 and we have other girls at her position to step up," said Head Coach Terry Bowe.
The team's core players also did a great job of stepping up after Douglas's injury. "Our core with Avalee (Jeffers), Abby (Worley), and Allyson (Hardiek) helped lead the way," said Bowe. "Some of the younger classman came and played extremely well. Syd (Ingram) came in as a senior and played well. We have multiple girls that can get it done the way we need to get it done."
The Pomeroys improve to 4-0 on the season and will travel again on Saturday to Richmond, Ind to begin River States Conference play at IU East with tipoff scheduled for 1:00 pm.
