WVB lose to IU Southeast in 5 sets

Pomeroys stumble in final road game of the season at IU Southeast

| By:
Box Score The Pomeroys women's volleyball team traveled to IU Southeast to face the Grenadiers, 12-13 (8-8), in their last conference road game of the season. The Pomeroys were in a tough battle all night and would end up losing to the Grenadiers in five sets 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 22-15, 7-15.
The Pomeroys had come into the match winning six of their last seven, but the team did not play like a team that has been on a dominant stretch like that. "We played arguably our worst match of the season," said Head Coach Ashley Harris, "We played hard but not smart. You can't play poorly and beat good teams."
The teams were fairly evened up in the total stats but one big issue on the Pomeroys that was a concern was the nine service errors the team had. The Pomeroys had 51 kills to the Grenadiers 52, 14 blocks compared to the Grenadiers' 11, and an 8.4 hit percentage while the Grenadiers had an 8.9 hit percentage.
Hannah Zuege led the team in kills with 18 and Shirley Marina was second with 14. Jocelyn Chavez led the team in digs with 28 and Jade Llamas was second with 23. Dynaida led the team in assists with 18 and Llamas was second with 16.
This drops the Pomeroys record to 24-6 overall and 10-6 in conference play. Coach Harris knows the team will need to move on from this and prepare for the final weekend of the season. "We have to learn from this and regroup for this weekend," she said.
The Pomeroys return home for the final weekend of the season as they will face Midway on Friday night at 7:00 pm and then face Alice Lloyd Saturday at noon for Senior Day.
