UHSP's Offensive Attack Too Much for the Women's Soccer Team

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) women's soccer (0-2-0) was defeated by the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis 5-0 in this evenings match.


How It Happened

1st Half: Start the match out strong, SMWC's defense held its own as the Pomeroys and UHSP found themselves tied after 25 minutes of play. At 26:35, Jordyn Besserman scored on an 18-yard shot that netted in the middle left of the goal (assisted by Cooper Fink). The Pomeroys would go into halftime trailing 1-0.

2nd Half: UHSP found its offensive attack and began to open the contest up behind another Jordyn Besserman goal (unassisted) from the corner of the box at 58:44. Seven minutes later, UHSP scored on a 50-year free-kick which bounced over the SMWC goalies head for another goal. At this point, the Pomeroys trailed 3-0. By 76:40, UHSP's Rachel Ray extended the lead 4-0 on a 15-yard goal that entered the left side of the net. With one second remaining, Rachel Ray scored the final goal (assist by Ashton Aguirre) to extend the lead to 5-0 and secure the victory.
