OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - The Pomeroys volleyball team fell in three sets yesterday night to NCAA Division II Oakland CIty University. This loss marked the fifth of the season and third straight for the team. SMWC will try and find its winning ways this weekend at the Case Western Reserve Invitational.
What you need to know:
- The Woods fell in three sets (25-27, 25-12, 25-10)
- SMWC totaled 24 kills and 23 assists in the match
- Gabriella Slagle led the team in the kill category with seven
- McKenzi Kumpf and Alexis Woodburn both added six kills a piece
- Mary Alvanos led both teams in assists with 18
- Pamela Dorman finished with 11 digs while Kumpf added 14 digs
By the Numbers:
Overall, SMWC sits with five losses on the season. Despite the bumpy start, the Pomeroys are still highly favored to make the USCAA National post-season for a fourth straight season.
What's Next?
The Case Western Reserve Invitation is on tap for The Woods this weekend. The Pomeroys will battle Capital University, Case Western Reserve University, and John Carroll University. The CWRI is hosted in Cleveland, Ohio. The first serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. against Capital University on Friday, September 4th.
