Box Score EUREKA, Ill. (Women's Volleyball)—The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroy women's volleyball team continued their success on Monday when the team traveled to Eureka College for a Labor Day match. SMWC quickly defeated the Red Devils in three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-10, and 25-17.
The Pomeroys (3-0) were led by McKenzi Kumpf with 17 kills and 10 digs. Not to be outdone, Monica Mack was the anchor for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods with 10 kills a team-high eight digs and three solo blocks. Mary Alvanos kept SMWC rolling with 29 assists.
As a team, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College recorded 36 kills, 35 digs, 32 assists, and seven service aces.
Heather Robinson, Anna Crank, and Lexi Dooley each accounted for four kills for Eureka. Robinson kept the table set for her teammates with 13 assists. Jordan Detmers recorded nine digs and three service aces. Beth Mickna recorded two solo blocks.
Collectively, the Red Devils finished the night with 31 digs, 21 kills, 19 assists, and three service aces.
SMWC will compete in a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 9 against Hanover College at 10 a.m. and Franklin College at 12 p.m. The event will be hosted by Hanover College in Hanover, Ind.
