Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team fell to crosstown rival Rose-Hulman on the road Wednesday evening. The Pomeroys are now 1-8 on the year after the 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 19-25) loss.
SMWC battled just how it has all season long with close, hard-fought sets that in the end, just didn't go their way. The Pomeroys fell 3-0 in what was the team's seventh road match of the young 2016 season.
The Pomeroys were within striking distance in all three sets, with their best set coming in the final one of the night, 19-25.
Sophomore McKenzi Kumpf and Gabriella Slagle had eight and seven kills respectively to lead the Pomeroys. Junior Madeline Howes contributed a team-leading 11 digs, while sophomore Mary Alvanos added a team-high 21 assists. Sophomore Autum Loughead led the team in solo blocks with three, while Slagle added two solo blocks as well.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on Friday when they host Lincoln Christian at 7 p.m. Friday's match will feature LIVE stats and video via the Pomeroys LIVE Portal.
