Box Score 4 HANOVER, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team fell in four matches over the weekend at the Hanover Volleyball Invitational. SMWC is now 1-7 on the year.
The two-day invite's slate had the Pomeroys playing Anderson and John Carroll on Friday and Hanover and Otterbein on Saturday. SMWC came up short in all four matches by scores of 3-0. The Pomeroys' best matches of the weekend came at the beginning and the end of the two-day event. SMWC played Anderson closely, falling 25-22, 25-23, 25-20, in their first match on Friday. SMWC then also went out fighting on Saturday in close sets in their loss to Otterbein, 25-17, 25-22, 25-16, to end their time at Hanover.
At the conclusion of the weekend and with eight matches now in the books for SMWC, sophomore Monica Mack continues to lead the team in attack percentage at .154 (24-12-78). Sophomore Mary Alvanos has racked up 124 assists and junior Madeline Howes has a team-leading 84 digs. Sophomore Autum Loughead leads the team in total blocks with 19, while Mack and sophomore Gabriella Slagle aren't far behind with 15 and 13 total blocks, respectively.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on Wednesday when they head to cross town rival Rose-Hulman. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
