Box Score 2 HILLSBORO, Ohio – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's basketball team moved to 1-2 on the year after going 1-1 this past weekend at Southern State. The Pomeroys defeated Wright State – Lake Campus, 101-57, and fell to Kentucky Christian, 96-83.
Four Pomeroys scored in double figures vs. WSLC with senior Na-Shaunda Rayford leading the way with 19 points. Junior Tara Parmer scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Senior Ja'Breena Gardner scored 11 points and senior Bria Hill scored 10.
Freshmen Isabella Wireman and Hayley Preston were big presences on the glass vs. WSLC with 11 rebounds each, while defensively freshman Ke'Chell Tate recorded six steals.
SMWC's second game of the weekend with Kentucky Christian proved to be more difficult as the Pomeroys fell 96-83. The Pomeroys had five players in double figures with Tate leading the way with 17 points. Rayford recorded 13 points, Parmer and Gardner recorded 11 points, while Lloyd recorded 10 points.
The two games were SMWC's first of the season outside of Hamilton Arena, and the Pomeroys will now look to their Nov. 12 meeting with Trinity Christian in Hamilton Arena at 3 p.m. Saturday's game will not feature live video or stats.
