Box Score 2 SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team went 1-1 on day one of the SMWC Volleyball Classic presented by Dorsett Automotive. The Pomeroys are now 5-15 on the year and will be looking to improve that record on Saturday for day two of the classic.
Game one of the day was 3-2 (25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 19-25, 13-15) defeated. Sophomore McKenzi Kumpf led the team in kills with 15, while sophomore Mary Alvanos recorded 38 assists. Junior Madeline Howes finished with 21 digs. Sophomores Monica Mack, Gabriella Slagle and Autum Loughead all recorded four block assists.
Game two of the day was a 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-12) victory that improved the Pomeroys to 5-15 on the year. Loughead led the way with 11 kills and Alvanos recorded 32 assists. Howes recorded a match-high 17 digs.
The Pomeroys will have another full day tomorrow, as they face Rochester at 10 a.m. and Wright State – Lake Campus at 2 p.m.
